The Lions selected Iowa tight end T.J. Hockenson with the No. 8 overall selection of the 2019 NFL draft.
Hockenson brings a dynamic pass-catching option who has the athleticism and speed to threaten the seam and make catches well outside his frame for quarterback Matt Stafford. He will excel in the blocking game for running back Kerryon Johnson, where he uses his strength to bully defenders out of the play.
Hockenson won the Mackey Award as the nation’s best tight end as he caught 49 passes for 760 yards and six touchdowns in the 2018 campaign.
