2019 NFL Draft: Is Ole Miss WR D.K. Metcalf the best option for the Titans in the first round?

The Tennessee Titans took a step to bolster the wide receiver position this offseason with the addition of former Tampa Bay Buccaneers slot receiver Adam Humphries.

But there’s still more work to be done.

According to SIRIUSXM analyst and former Dallas Cowboys Vice President of Player Personnel Gil Brandt, former Ole Miss wideout D.K. Metcalf could very well be the best choice for the Titans at pick No. 19.

“If I were them, I think the defense is pretty good, and I think maybe I would think about wide receiver, and there’s about four of them that look pretty good,” he said in a conference call. “My highest receiver is (Metcalf), who I think is a home run threat and a big strong guy, which everyone seems to be looking for in today’s game.”

If selected, Metcalf would join the ranks of Humphries, Corey Davis, Taywan Taylor, Tajae Sharpe and Cameron Batson.

Other analysts like Mark Dominik – who was also on the conference call – believe the Titans are better off sticking to defense on their first selection.

“They need continue to add (at receiver),” he said. “But adding Adam Humphries this offseason, and you are still hoping that Corey Davis (keeps improving), and (they) have a couple of higher picks invested in (Tajae) Sharpe and (Taywan) Taylor. I think this is going back to a pass rusher, and certainly like a big plugger.”

Metcalf has been a key piece of the Rebels’ offense, recording 67 receptions for 1,228 yards and 14 touchdowns.

Last season, the 6-foot-4, 230-pounder reeled in 26 receptions for 569 yards and five touchdowns.

Only time will tell if Metcalf is a part of the Titans’ plans when they take to the draft board on April 25.
