2019 NFL Draft: Giants will owe rookies over $23 million in signing bonuses

When the 2019 NFL Draft rolls around, the New York Giants could have upwards of 11 total picks once the compensatory formula is finalized and additional picks are handed out.

While the sheer number of picks will drastically help the Giants, who have several areas of need, it will also come at a cost. Quite an extreme cost, in fact.

Over the Cap projects the Giants to pay out over $23 million in rookie signing bonuses, which is the sixth-most in the NFL and well above league average.

With a projected cap space of just under $30 million heading into free agency, the Giants will have to keep this in the back of their minds when handing out new contracts. And while the majority of the bonuses will be spread out over the duration of each rookie contract, it will account for notable amount on the front end.

While the rookie bonuses may not be a back-breaking amount, but it’s worth keeping in mine as the new league year approaches.
