2019 NFL draft: Giants select CB Deandre Baker No. 30 overall

The Giants traded back in the first round with the Seahawks to acquire Georgia cornerback with the No. 30 overall selection of the 2019 NFL draft.

Behind Janoris Jenkins and Sam Beal, New York didn’t have any other reliable options at the position.

Baker won the Jim Thorpe Award last season as the top defensive back in college football. He finished his four-year career with seven interceptions and 116 total tackles.

Baker gives New York a solid press man-cover corner who can stick close and jam his assignment. He has the speed and athleticism to run with smaller receivers, as well as the strength to hold up with the bigger ones in the NFL.
