2019 NFL draft: Five day-2 options for the Eagles

The Eagles addressed a major need on Thursday during the first round of the NFL Draft, when the team traded up to pick Washington State offensive tackle Andre Dillard at No. 22 overall. The Eagles parted ways with a fourth- and a sixth-round pick to acquire Dillard, so the two second round picks are crucial to the Eagles long-term development.

With two second-round picks, here are five options for day two of the draft.

EDGE Jachai Polite, Florida

Polite is in this position because of a poor NFL Combine showing but could be a value pick and developmental pass rusher behind Derek Barnett and Brandon Graham.

The former Crimson Tide star could be a value pick and long term answer at middle linebacker for the Eagles.

DE-LB Chase Winovich, Michigan

Winovich, a physical edge defender, has a motor that the Eagles would love, and could replace Chris Long in the lineup. Winovich isn’t a sack artist, but he is a disrupter after amassing 62 tackles at Michigan last season, along with 14.5 tackles for loss.

A.J. Brown, WR, Ole Miss

Brown would add another playmaker to the skill positions, while pushing Nelson Agholor or eventually becoming his replacement if the Eagles choose to move on.

David Montgomery, Iowa St

Montgomery just finished an impressive two-year stretch with the Cyclones in which he amassed 2,945 rushing yards and 26 touchdowns while catching 71 passes for 582 receiving yards. Montgomery should appeal to the Eagles, because of his dual-threat ability that could see him on the field for all three downs, while being utilized in the passing game heavily.
