2019 NFL draft: Falcons met with Alabama State OT Tytus Howard

The Falcons are fixated on improving their offensive line this year. In free agency, their two biggest moves were signing James Carpenter and Jamon Brown, who should be the team’s new starting guards. Atlanta has also re-signed Ty Sambrailo, who will be starting at right tackle in place of Ryan Schraeder, who has been cut.

Don’t be surprised if the team adds another offensive tackle in the draft, as well. This week they met with one of the more promising prospects in this class. According to Josh Norris at Rotoworld, the Falcons sent four decision makers to visit with Alabama State’s Tytus Howard on Tuesday.

Howard (6-foot-5, 322 pounds) is getting a lot of attention lately. The division rival Panthers also met with Howard on Monday. 14 other teams are also reported to be meeting with him.

Through most of the draft season, Howard has been projected as a Day 2 pick, but he’s been creeping up into the first round of some mocks lately.

Here’s a look at Howard at the Senior Bowl.

Given their other roster holes, the Falcons probably shouldn’t use a first-rounder on him. If he’s still there Day 2, Howard is certainly worth a look, though.
