2019 NFL Draft: Eagles’ Duce Staley gets up-close look at Temple RB Ryquell Armstead

The Philadelphia Eagles are in need of a unique talent at the running back position, and one potential game-changer was front and center during Temple’s Pro Day. Star running back Ryquell Armstead has been building buzz on the pre-draft circuit, and on Monday, Eagles running backs coach, and former Philadelphia star, Duce Staley got an up-close look at the mid-round prospect. Eagles Vice President of player personnel Joe Douglas was also in attendance.

Armstead has a style similar to Josh Adam’s, and has average speed, after having run a 4.45 40-yard dash at the NFL Combine. During his Senior season at Temple, Armstead carried the ball 210 times, for 1,098 yards.

He’s not the dynamic player out of the backfield that the Eagles truly need, and could use some work as a run blocker as well.
