With their first three picks in the 2019 NFL draft, the Pittsburgh Steelers repeated the same three positions they sought out in free agency. Pittsburgh signed linebacker Mark Barron and drafted Devin Bush. They signed wide receiver Donte Moncrief but draft Deiontae Johnson in the third round. And finally, despite signing cornerback Steven Nelson, the Steelers drafted Justin Layne.
But the Steelers still have other needs the team has failed to address. Here are two guys still on the board at the three biggest remaining needs on the roster.
Safety
I don’t understand why Chauncey Gardner-Johnson and Amani Hooker are still on the board but they are going to make some teams look very smart when they are drafted. Both guys are interchangeable between cornerback and free safety which could be part of why teams have shied away.

EDGE rusher

You can never have enough pass rushers and right now the Steelers are pretty undermanned at outside linebacker. Both Maxx Crosby and D’Andre Walker have great film. Why haven’t they been chosen yet? Crosby played against underwhelming competition and Walker didn’t even earn a starting spot until his last year at Georgia.

Tight end

With Jesse James off to the Detroit Lions, tight end has become a significant need. The Steelers have Vance McDonald to do all the heavy lifting but could use a player like Kaden Smith or Foster Moreau, who have the upside to keep on the active roster while they polish up their receiving skills.
