2019 NFL Draft: Chiefs awarded sixth-round compensatory pick

The Chiefs’ departing free agents in 2018 earned them a compensatory draft pick.

The pick will be in the sixth round (No. 214 overall), according to NFL Communications. The Chiefs were projected to earn a pick in the sixth round, so there are really no surprises here.

Here are the rest of the NFL comp picks for 2019:

The Chiefs received this comp pick because they lost nose tackle Bennie Logan in free agency last offseason.

The Chiefs have hit on some sixth-round draft picks recently. Having an extra should help them find a contributor. Here’s a list of some of the notables:

  • Laurent Duvernay-Tardif (2014)
  • Zach Fulton (2014)
  • Rakeem Nunez-Roches (2015)
  • Tremon Smith (2018)

With the addition of the comp pick, here are the Chiefs’ 2019 draft selections as of 2 p.m. CT Friday:

Round 1 (No. 29 overall)
Round 2 (No. 61 overall)
Round 2 (No. 63 overall, via Marcus Peters trade with Rams)
Round 3 (No. 92 overall)
Round 5
Round 6
Round 6 (No. 214 overall, compensatory)
Round 7

We’ll update you as soon as we know the exact positions draft spots for rounds 5, 6 and 7.
