2019 NFL Draft: Chicago Bears select FAU RB Kerrith Whyte in 7th round

Ryan Pace has a history of double dipping in the NFL Draft, and he kept that trend rolling in 2019.

After trading up for David Montgomery in the third round, the Chicago Bears general manager added to the backfield again in the seventh with Kerrith Whyte Jr. from Florida Atlantic.

Whyte was the backup to fellow draft prospect Devin Singletary on the Owls, and he brings some real speed and explosiveness to the Bears backfield.

He killed his pro day with a  4.36 40-yard dash, an 11-foot broad jump and a 42-inch vertical after not being invited to the NFL combine.

Whyte wasn’t used a lot as a receiver, but he was an effective kick returner with a high ceiling as a seventh-round pick.

He averaged 6.8 yards per carry in 2018, rushing for 866 yards and eight touchdowns. He caught 10 passes for 160 yards and two touchdowns.
