In the move to get inside linebacker Devin Bush on the first day of the 2019 NFL draft, the Pittsburgh Steelers traded away their second-round pick. This shows the Steelers’ level of commitment to Bush as a prospect but also leaves them out of the mix on the second day of the draft until early in the third round.
But it wouldn’t take much for the Steelers’ first third-round pick to turn into a second-round pick with all the extra choices the Steelers have. And it isn’t likely to cost them their second third-round choice.
Here are five guys we think the Steelers should consider trading up to get in the second round.
WR A.J. Brown, Ole Miss
Pittsburgh should be looking for an all-around receiving threat to challenge the guys on the roster to start opposite JuJu Smith-Schuster and no receiver in this draft can do everything the way Brown can.
DL Charles Omenihu, Texas

Defensive line might not seem like a top need but Omenihu might be too good to pass up. This is a defensive line-heavy draft which cut Omenihu out of the first-round mix but he has all the skills of guys taken on Thursday.
EDGE Chase Winovich, Michigan

The Steelers scouting the Wolverines heavily so they have a very strong understanding of what Winovich is capable of. Pittsburgh needs to add a pass rusher to their rotation and Winovich is the type of high-motor guy the Steelers love.
CB Greedy Williams, LSU

Many mocks grossly overvalued this cornerback class in comparison to the NFL. Plenty of writers felt like Williams was a fair pick for Pittsburgh in the first round, so getting him in the second round could be a steal.
DB Amani Hooker, Iowa

Pittsburgh has proven in recent years they love drafting defensive players who can excel in multiple roles. There might not be a better defensive player left in the draft at this than Hooker. He can move seamlessly between free safety and cornerback and would give Pittsburgh a ton of defensive flexibility.
