2019 NFL Combine: Jags meet with several RBs, including Jordan Scarlett

With the Jacksonville Jaguars’ front office press conferences over with, the team has began their interview process in Indianapolis. So far, that has at least included three running backs as the team met with Penn State’s Miles Sanders, Memphis’ Tony Pollard and Florida’s Jordan Scarlett.

Of course, Scarlett is the most familiar of the three tailbacks being that he attended school down the road from Jacksonville at Florida University. At 5-foot-11, 210 pounds, he has a Day 3 grade on him according to most draft analysts. One big question mark with him will be his past as he missed the 2017 season for a credit card fraud scandal, which included current Cleveland Browns receiver Antonio Callaway and several others. However, he got himself back on track and returned to the field in 2018 and was able to accumulate 131 carries for 776 rushing yards and five touchdowns on the season.

Sanders (5-foot-10, 211 pounds) is another player who could be a Day 3 pick, however, the combine could elevate him higher if he tests well. He had a solid 2018 campaign, racking up 220 carries for 1,274 rushing yards and nine touchdowns. Earlier this month, he was listed by ESPN as one of the draft’s most complete tailbacks as analyst Matt Bowen praised his footwork and ability to find creases.

Lastly, Pollard (5-foot-11, 210 pounds) is a player who the Jags saw perform at the Senior Bowl. While at Memphis University, he was used as an all-purpose weapon on offense and special teams and finished 2018 with 78 carries 552 rushing yards and three touchdowns while adding 667 return yards and a touchdown on special teams. He’s expected to be a Day 3 selection, too, who could be drafted around the fifth-round.
