The New Orleans Saints and head coach Sean Payton have a tough schedule ahead of them for the 2019 regular season, but it’s nothing they haven’t seen before. Payton is one of the NFL’s longest-tenured head coaches, and his experienced staff has overcome plenty of challenges already. Still, the NFL is an unpredictable league, and the next season promises to come with its own unique surprises.
Their schedule starts off with a slate of four teams who made the playoffs last season, and peaks with a midseason four-game stretch against division rivals from within the NFC South — a series that must be played in just 18 days. Fortunately, the Saints will be well-prepared to run that gauntlet thanks to their Week 9 bye.
This is an important season, maybe one of the most-important in recent Saints history. They’re going into it with Super Bowl hopes on the line and a 40-year-old quarterback under center in Drew Brees. Here’s the road the Saints must take in pursuit of a second Super Bowl victory:
