2019 NBA Draft: Terence Davis among prospects to workout for Celtics

Every team needs role players and, on Saturday, the Boston Celtics had a player who would fit that role perfectly in for predraft workouts.

Per NBC Sports Boston’s A. Sherrod Blakely, Ole Miss guard Terence Davis was among a group of draft prospects that would workout for Boston over the weekend. Davis, who was selected to the All-SEC second team in 2018-19, had two of his best games last season against Auburn and Kentucky. The other game against Butler, who Celtics head coach Brad Stevens coached from 2007-2012.

A 6-foot-4, 205 pound combo guard, Davis spent most of his time off-ball last season but is at his best with the ball in his hands and on the move towards the rim.

The athletic senior averaged 15.2 points, 5.8 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 1.6 steals per game last season while shooting 44.4 percent from the field, 37.1 percent from three-point range and 77.2 percent from the free-throw line. He also had an average of .150 win shares per 48 minutes.

A jack-of-all-trades, master-of-none type of player, Davis should be available when the Celtics are on the clock in the second round. Boston could use Davis for backcourt depth with the possibility that either Kyrie Irving or Terry Rozier will find a new team in free agency.
