2019 NBA Draft: Celtics interested in USC guard Kevin Porter Jr.

The Boston Celtics might be interested in taking former USC Trojans guard Kevin Porter, Jr., according to Bleacher Report’s Jonathan Wasserman. Porter, 6-foot-6 and 218 pounds with a 6-foot-9 wingpsan, averaged 9.5 points, 4.0 rebound and 0.8 steals in 22.1 minutes per game, shooting 47.1 percent from the field and 41.2 percent from three-point range.

Porter, a powerful and rangy scorer with a great handle and deadly stepback, showing himself to have exciting potential. However, he’s been up and down in draft mocks in recent weeks because of concerns over his attitude off-the-court subpar defense and shooting form.

Besides Boston, Porter has drawn interest from the Brooklyn Nets, Miami Heat, Oklahoma City Thunder and Cleveland Cavaliers. The Cavs have already made one selection in the draft, selecting former Vanderbilt point guard Darius Garland with the fifth overall pick.
