It usually isn’t easy for players to make their way into our preseason list of the Mountain West’s best after just one year, which is a credit to how well Colorado State’s Rashad Ajayi, in at #29, played in 2018.
Ajayi cracked the Rams’ lineup from day one, starting all 12 games as a true freshman. He collected 33 tackles, six passes defended, two forced fumbles, and an interception, more than holding his own on a defense that had an uneven campaign overall. Heading into his sophomore season, Ajayi seems likely to play a crucial role in whatever bounce-back Colorado State is able to achieve.
