San Diego State may have had a disappointing 2018 overall, but performances like the one they got from interior offensive lineman Keith Ismael, who appears once more in our countdown of Mountain West football’s best at #16, are those that should definitely keep the Aztecs in the mix as a contender.
Ismael earned first-team all-conference honors last season after starting six games each at both center and guard, playing well over 800 snaps for the second straight year despite missing one game with an injury. It’s no surprise, then, that he’s also been named to multiple award watch lists this summer and was an obvious selection for the Mountain West’s preseason all-conference team.
With a new-look offense to help orchestrate, Ismael’s stability will be key for a unit that looks to put last season’s letdown far behind them.
