2019 Chevy Silverado Claims Best Bed In The Business

2019 Chevrolet Silverado

In the take-no-prisoners truck battle between Chevrolet, Ford and Ram, the new 2019 Silverado full-size pick-up is claiming a win over the competition.

Chevrolet says the all-new Silverado 1500 has best-in-class cargo volume, box depth, box length at floor, plus a segment-leading 12 fixed tie-downs and exclusive power up/down tailgate.

As a result, the 2019 Silverado has the most functional bed of any pickup.

2019 Silverado comes with integrated in-bed LED lighting.

“The bed is the heart and soul of any pickup, so we made several improvements to the bed of the all-new Silverado to give our customers an even better hauling experience,” said Tim Herrick, executive chief engineer, Full-Size Trucks, General Motors. “We’ve added so many features and benefits that it deserves its own name – Durabed.”

Compared to the outgoing Silverado, the new version’s cargo box space is up from 53 to 63 cu ft in short box model, 62 to 72 in standard box and 75 to 89 in long box.

The short-box’s volume is up to 20 percent more than any competitor’s short-box, says Chevy.

Most of that increase was achieved by widening the maximum width of the bed floor nearly ten percent (seven inches), which is implemented across all three bed sizes.

Another improvement to Silverado is an increase in fixed tie-down points to 12, plus an additional nine moveable tie-downs.

2019 Silverado boasts more tie-down points.

The new Silverado goes on sale this fall.
