2019 Cardinals stats countdown: 81 days until season opener

There are now 81 days remaining until the Arizona Cardinals open their 2019 regular season at home against the Detroit Lions. With 81 days left in our countdown, let us find some notable stats in Cardinals history related to the No. 81.

The longest punt in franchise history was 81 yards, kicked by Mike Wood in 1978.

Two players — Hal Roberts in 1974 and Scott Player in 1998 — punted 81 times in a season.

Quarterback King Hill, who was the last player to be drafted first overall by the Cardinals before Kyler Murray, also punted. He punted 81 times as a member of the Cardinals.

Receiver J.J. Nelson, who played the last four seasons with the Cardinals before going to the Raiders this offseason in free agency, caught 81 passes for the Cardinals.

Every Cardinals fan’s favorite offensive lineman, Levi Brown, appeared in 81 career games for the Cardinals.

Two players rushed for 81 yards in their Cardinals career. One was fullback Frank Balasz, who played from 1941-1945. The other was halfback Ken Hall, who rushed for 81 yards on 14 carries between 1959 and 1961.

Running back LeShon Johnson rushed for exactly 81 yards in 1997.

We will be back with another post tomorrow for stats for the No. 80.
