Phil Mickelson wanted to finish play at the 2019 AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am Sunday as darkness wrapped up the Pacific Coast and claim his 44th career victory.
But Paul Casey, who trailed Mickelson by three shots and was tied for second place, had other ideas.
So, after much debate as sunlight disappeared above Pebble Beach, play was halted before Mickelson and Casey were able to start No. 17.
“I get where Paul is coming from,” Mickelson said. “But I have good vision and can see fine.”
Play was delayed earlier due to inclement weather, which included large clusters of hail settling on the greens Sunday afternoon. Casey and Mickelson were set to tee off in the final pairing when the weather hit.
