2019 ALL-USA Preseason Girls Track and Field: Throws

In honor of Girls Sports Month, USA TODAY High School Sports is releasing the ALL-USA Preseason Girls Track and Field Team for the 2018-19 season as selected by Fred Baer, the founder of Track and Field Writers of America, and Jack Shepard, the high school editor for Track & Field News.

Here are the five athletes selected in the throws (shot put, discus, hammer, javelin). Returning ALL-USA selections are denoted with asterisks.

LOOKBACK: 2017-18 ALL-USA Girls Track and Field Team

<p><strong>School: </strong>Fowler (Calif.)                              <br /> <strong>Class: </strong>Senior<br /> <strong>Result, Events: </strong>47-7, SP; 174-2, DT<br /> <strong>Noteworthy:</strong> Budwig was the 2018 California state shot put champ at 46-11. <p><strong>School: </strong>Mifflin County (Lewistown, Pa.)          <strong><br/>Class:</strong> Senior<br/><strong>Result, Events: </strong>177-0, JT<br/><strong>Noteworthy:</strong> Ciccolini was the 2018 Penn Relays javelin throw champion. <p><strong>School: </strong>Timberland (Wentzville, Mo.)      <br /> <strong>Class: </strong>Senior<br /> <strong>Result, Events: </strong>195-6, HT<br /> <strong>Noteworthy: </strong>Kunza won the 2018 New Balance Nationals hammer throw at 193-6. <p><strong>School: </strong>Superior (Neb.)                                 <br /> <strong>Class: </strong>Junior<br /> <strong>Result, Events: </strong>48-2 1/4, SP; 167-6, DT<br /> <strong>Noteworthy:</strong> Meyer was a double winner at the Nebraska State Class C championships in the shot put, 48-2 1/4, and discus throw, 163-4.
