The Mini Convertible has become the fourth model in Thailand to be available with the hot John Cooper Works treatment.

Following the Hatch, Clubman and Countryman, the Convertible gets the same 231hp 2.0-litre petrol-turbo and eight-speed torque-converter automatic drivetrain.
Mini claims that the JCW Convertible sprints from 0-100kph in 6.5sec before attaining a top speed of 240kph. A sports exhaust system is fitted as standard, as well as an array of bespoke JCW design details.
The price for the souped-up Convertible has been set at 3.468 million baht, 88k more than its Hatch counterpart. The JCW models of the Clubman and Countryman cost an identical 3.518 million baht.
The JCW Convertible is without a direct competitor in the Thai luxury car market due to its B-segment, four-seat, open-top hatchback body. The roof can open partially via a sliding mechanism or retracted fully.
The only other open-top car that’s sold with a cheaper price in the country is the Mazda MX-5 RF, which comes with a Targa-style folding hard-top and 160hp 2.0-litre naturally aspirated engine.
The MX-5 costs 2.82 million baht and can be specified with either six-speed manual or automatic transmission.
