Super-saloon comes to Thailand on an official basis to slug it out with the BMW M5.

Mercedes-Benz Thailand has launched another full-blooded AMG model in the guise of the E63 S 4Matic+.
Targeting the BMW M5, the fast four-door saloon from Mercedes is armed with 612hp 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8, nine-speed automatic and all-wheel drive.
The M5 comes with 600hp 4.4-litre bi-turbo V8, eight-speeder and, like the E63 S 4Matic+, all-wheel-drive system that can be switched to a traditional rear-wheel-only setup.
Both of these rivals have the same 0-100kph acceleration time of 3.4sec being quoted by their manufacturers. But at 12.79 million baht, the E63 S 4Matic+ is around half-a-million baht cheaper than the M5.
The local BMW office could counter the super-saloon game with the M5 Competition, launched in Europe but not in Thailand yet. The M5 Competition has a higher 625hp and goes from standstill to 100kph in 3.3sec.
Competitors that have never reached Thai shores on an official basis include the Audi RS6 and Lexus GS F.
