2018 Detroit Grand Prix: Ryan Hunter-Reay wins Dual II on Belle Isle

DETROIT _ Ryan Hunter-Reay claimed the Chevrolet Detroit Grand Prix Dual II title Sunday afternoon at Bell Isle. Hunter-Reay battled teammate Alexander Rossi all day before Rossi lost control on lap 64, giving Hunter-Reay the victory.

Indy 500 winner and Team Penske's Will Power was second, 11.3549 seconds behind Hunter-Reay. Ed Jones was third, 13.2291 seconds from Hunter-Reay.

After having the fastest qualifying time, Rossi led the first 22 laps of the race and would retake the lead on lap 53 before his breaks locked up 11 laps later. Hunter-Reay and Rossi, who finished 2-3 respectively Saturday, went back and forth all afternoon, and when it looked as if they would go 1-2, Rossi lost control of his car. He finished 12th.

Despite not winning the race, Chevy's performance was slightly better Sunday. Will Power was once again Chevy's highest finisher at third.

GM executive Mark Reuss had the most embarrassing incident of the entire weekend, wrecking the pace car before the race.

Scott Dixon, who won Saturday's race, finished fourth, completing a successful weekend for the 37 year old. He remains tied for third on the IndyCar all-time wins list with 42.
