Sporty derivative of X3 SUV enters its second generation and maintains diesel power and sub-4 million baht price tag.

BMW Thailand has introduced the all-new X4 in second-generation form rivaling the Mercedes-Benz GLC Coupe and Range Rover Evoque.
Codenamed G02, the X4 sporty SUV shares basically the same improvements as seen in the family-oriented X3. They include a bigger yet lighter body to slightly improve performance and economy of the carried-over diesel engine.
Mated to eight-speed automatic and all-wheel-drive transmission, the 2.0-litre four-cylinder motor develops 190hp and helps keep CO2 emissions below the 150g/km level.
As a result, the X4 in xDrive20d and M Sport spec costs 3.999 million baht which is basically the same level as before.
While the GLC250d Coupe AMG Plus goes for 3.99 million baht, the Evoque TD4 is priced at 3.799 million baht for SE Plus and 4.299 million baht for HSE trims. Both have comparable four-pot diesel power like in the X4.
Although the Thai BMW office offered a price-leading petrol version in the previous F26-coded model, the new X4 is initially available with just diesel. The outgoing 20i, equipped with 184hp 2.0-litre petrol-turbo, was priced at 3.629 million baht.
This leaves the GLC Coupe with the most variants to choose from. Apart from the GLC250d, there’s the 4.06 million baht petrol-powered GLC250 and 4.69 million baht AMG-fettled GLC43.
Elsewhere, the X4 is being offered with 360hp M40i contesting the 367hp GLC43 but is not sold in Thailand.
