2018 Bangkok International Motor Show highlights

Mass-market brands are trying to spruce up their presence amid an overwhelming arrival of new luxury cars.

Ford Ranger Raptor

After revealing the dressed-up Ranger in Thailand last month, Ford has announced pricing for it. The Raptor comes with a new 213hp 2.0-litre diesel-turbo, 10-speed automatic, macho wheels rimmed with BF Goodrich tyres and car-like rear suspension. It costs 1.699 million baht 

Hyundai Ioniq Electric

Hyundai has become the next carmaker to sell an all-electric vehicle in Thailand. The Ioniq Electric features 120hp electric motor good for 280km driving range. Sister-brand Kia was first with an EV late last year in the form of the Soul EV. The Ioniq is priced at 1.749 million baht.

Mitsubishi eX Concept

Mitsubishi is the only brand to bring a concept car to this year’s show. The eX Concept is roughly the size of the Toyota C-HR powered by an all-electric drivetrain. It also showcases some connected car and automated driving systems.

Honda Clarity Fuel Cell

Although Honda’s hydrogen-powered Clarity has already hit markets in the developed part of the world, it is merely here for show purposes. The Clarity is also being sold as electric or plug-in hybrid in Japan and the US.
