Load-carrying A6 takes on the BMW 5 Series Touring and Volvo V90 with driving performance and all-wheel-drive grip to boast.

Meister Technik, the authorised importer of Audi in Thailand, has introduced the all-new A6 Avant ahead of a public debut at next week’s Motor Expo.
The load-carrying A6 is being highlighted with 340hp twin-turbo V6 petrol, 48V mild hybrid and Quattro all-wheel drive tech, all shared with the Thai-spec A7 and A8.
Available in just S-Line grade, the A6 Avant 55 TFSI costs 4.999 million baht. Although it is the priciest estate in its class, the A6 Avant is pinned as a family car with driving performance and all-weather grip in mind.
The BMW 530i Touring comes with 252hp 2.0-litre petrol-turbo costing 4.499 million baht in M Sport trim, while the Volvo V90 D4 Inscription is equipped with 190hp 2.0-litre diesel-turbo priced at 4.09 million baht.
Mercedes-Benz once offered the E-Class Estate with 194hp four-pot diesel power at a price in between the BMW and Volvo, but imports have stopped.
Although the latest A6 is also available in saloon form, the Thai Audi office has chosen the estate variation as the brand has a heritage with Avant models.
As well, the initial engine variance will make the four-door A6 difficult to sell against its far more competitively priced rivals in Thailand, according to company executives.
