2018-19 year in review: Gerald Green

The Houston Rockets may have been bounced early from the playoffs this year, but they were able to put together another strong regular season in 2018-19.

There are areas they can improve upon, even though there were individuals who had immense success.

Rockets Wire is reviewing each player, starter or second unit, to recap the Rockets’ season.

Gerald Green

Green saw his 20.2 minutes per game in the regular season diminish to 8.8 a night in the playoffs. He did log double-digit minutes twice in the Western Conference Semifinals against the Warriors, but there was also an instance where he played just over two minutes in the entire game.

As much as he could fill it up on any given night, Green’s play on the offensive end was far too inconsistent. With Houston primarily focusing on knocking off the Warriors, he doesn’t seem to be a fit for the team anymore.

It’s likely his time with the Rockets is at an end given he’s now an unrestricted free agent. Although he likely wouldn’t cost the Rockets a lot of money, with the team looking to revamp things and Mike D’Antoni entering the last year of his contract with talks of an extension ending, Houston doesn’t have much to gain, if anything, from re-signing Green.

We are giving Green a C+ for the 2018-19 season.
