2005 White Sox reunion weekend kicks off Friday

July 17--Ten years ago they captured baseball's biggest prize when they swept the Astros to win the World Series.

This weekend, 22 members of the 2005 White Sox are scheduled to participate in a reunion, including manager Ozzie Guillen, World Series MVP Jermaine Dye, Scott Podsednik, Geoff Blum, Joe Crede, Orlando Hernandez and Hall of Famer Frank Thomas.

Current Sox manager Robin Ventura said he and his team will welcome them with open arms.

"Those guys are always going to be special in the fans' eyes and the organization's eyes," Ventura said Friday morning. "It's fun having them around here. A few of them had come through here by the time I was leaving. ... I want them in our clubhouse."

Members of the '05 team will make appearances throughout U.S. Cellular Field this weekend and will participate in the Parade of Champions before Saturday's game against the Royals. Some players are scheduled to appear at the Chicago Theatre on Sunday night for "A Season to Remember: A Night with the 2005 World Series Champions.

Ticket information is available at whitesox.com.
