Fantastic Fest would not be what it is without the women behind the scenes. So today, on her birthday, we’re celebrating the amazing Brandy Fons! You probably know her from her iconic hats and nail designs but she’s also an integral part of the festival.
Fons is one of the brains behind Fons PR, the PR company that does a lot of work for Fantastic Fest. She’s fun, bubbly, and if you’ve seen talent at Fantastic Fest getting ushered from place to place, Fons is probably in the middle of leading them there. But speaking from personal experience, Fons is what makes festivals like this so special.
Fantastic Fest 2024 was my first time at the festival and my first time in Austin. To be fair, it was my first time in the state of Texas, and she made sure that I (along with a lot of other press) felt welcome and important while we celebrated genre films. And that’s what is so fun about a festival like this, you get to see people you only ever see at events like this and celebrate movies with them. And Brandy Fons is a very fun person to celebrate movies with.
As I said before, she’s known for her hats and she always has nails themed to the events in question and, some years, she even organizes surprise poker nights at the fest! Overall, she’s just someone who is really fun to be around because you can tell how much she loves what she does and Fantastic Fest is as special as it is today because of Fons’ dedication to it for the last 15 years. And if you saw an uptick in the amount of women having fun at Fantastic Fest, know that Brandy Fons had something to do with it.
