20-year-old Irish darts star Ciaran Teehan wins in Ally Pally debut at World Darts Championship

Cork darts player Ciaran Teehan has made it through to the last 32 of the PDC World Darts Championship, Cork Beo reports .

Teehan, 20, is the first Cork player to play at the tournament and he caused a great upset today by beating England’s Ross Smith 3-0 in the first round at the Ally Pally.

Smith - who was playing in his third PDC World Darts Championship - came to the Ally Pally on the back of an impressive 2019 which included reaching the quarter-finals of the UK Open.

Ciaran will now play Mervyn King in the next round of the competition.

The Northsider qualified for the biggest tournament in darts last month when an impressive run at the PDC Development Tour saw him win his PDC Tour Card.

Ciaran will be joined in the next round by darts legends including Michael van Gerwen and Gary Anderson.
