Growing up in the Rhondda there are certain things that are just a simple right of passage.
Being raised in the Valleys is a privilege in itself, and there are certain things that only those who were raised here know.
From a night out in The Banc to Mr Creemy's, there's plenty only those raised here are lucky enough to know.

These are all the things you would only know if you grew up in the Rhondda:
1. At the first sign of snow you'd grab some cardboard and head to the highest hill to slide down
2. You've got 'aunties' who are of no blood relation to you but you still have to call them auntie

3. Going with your Mam to Cyril's Butchers at 6am on Christmas Eve to pick up the Turkey
4. Your school was overrun by sheep at least once a year
5. You went to Carpanini's chip shop then went next door to the cafe for sweets, and the same person served you after walking through the hole in the wall

6. A walk down the high street for a pint of milk turns in to a day out as everyone you walk past you seem to know
7. The older men in your family were coal miners and you'd sit and listen to their stories
8. You definitely drank on Treorchy cricket pitch or in the gullys (but not in the one by your house)

9. Everyone knows everything about everyone, there's no secrets growing up in the Rhondda
10. You know a Jones, Evans or a Davies, or you are one
11. You all flocked to Mr Creemy's on a boiling hot day

12. The rivalry between Treorchy Comp pupils and Cymer pupils
13. You went to nearly every Treorchy Zebra's game especially the Ystrad vs Treorchy game

14. You've had more than one night out doing the Rhondda two-step in The Banc that you'd rather forget
15. Doing ballet/modern dance/school orchestra on the stage at the Parc and Dare made you feel like a superstar

16. You played in brooks your whole childhood so your body is probably immune to most illnesses
17. Spending the school holidays up up the mountains until it got dark or the street lights came on
18. Doors were left open and you walked into neighbours' houses, you used to know everyone in the street
19. Youth clubs were the place to be
20. All you do is complain about the Rhondda but you'd never move as this is home (you secretly love it)
