BHOPAL: In the past one week, nearly 20% of the total new Covid-19 cases in the state were reported from Bhopal alone.
Despite the steady increase in infection and active cases, testing has not been stepped up in the state capital. Majority of patients are asymptomatic and only 1 out of 54 active cases in Bhopal is in hospital.
Around 237 new cases were reported in the state between May 13 and 19. 46 cases or nearly 19.4% of total cases were reported from Bhopal alone. Moreover, active cases in Bhopal have risen to 54 from 33, an increase of more than 66% in just one week.
Sources said that number of tests in state capital has also decreased compared to previous months, probably due to several reasons like majority of the patients are asymptomatic and in most cases the infected person is not identified. Proactive testing has been stopped and only those patients who are opting for getting themselves tested are being subjected to Covid-19 tests. There is a possibility that if testing is increased, there could be more positive patients. However, on the brighter side, people are recovering quickly and often without any severe symptoms, said sources.
