20 most valuable Premier League players ranked by transfer experts - as Mo Salah fourth

Mo Salah has been ranked as the joint-fourth most valuable player in the Premier League by transfer experts.

The Liverpool forward is arguably the best player in the world on current form following a blistering start to the season.

However those at TransferRoom, whose formula works out a player's expected transfer value (xTV) which is then used as a guide by recruitment gurus, believes that Jack Grealish, Romelu Lukaku and Jadon Sancho are all more valuable on the market.

A player's age, current level, perceived potential and current club are all among the factors considered in their value.

Several of those reasons will be factors in Salah's value being determined at €90m (£75.7m).

The Reds forward has entered the final 18 months of his deal at Anfield - but has made his future feelings clear - and will turn 30 next year.

His xTV is on par with Tottenham's Harry Kane and Manchester United's Bruno Fernandes.

Grealish, who moved to Manchester City for a British record fee in the summer, is valued at €143m (£121m), making him the Premier League's most expensive player.

Lukaku returned to Chelsea for a club-record fee having been prolific at Inter Milan and has an xTV of €140.4m (£118.1m).

Sancho rounds out the top three, with his value also rated above €100m, although United only paid just over £70m for his services.

The winger has struggled to adapt thus far, failing to register an assist or score since moving to Old Trafford, however his age is a massive factor in his xTV.

Kai Havertz is rated as the seventh most valuable player in England's top flight, although he too has been unable to truly unlock his potential since moving to Chelsea.

Manchester City duo Phil Foden and Kevin De Bruyne and both valued at €80m (£67.2m), although they are at very differing stages of their career.

Sadio Mane rounds out the top ten, although it will surprise some to see that his Reds teammate Virgil van Dijk is not even in the top 20.

Largely that is down to age with the Dutchman now into his 30s whilst he is also continuing his recovery from a long-term injury, which plays a part in the frequently updated metric.

The centre-half missed large parts of last season and it remains to be seen whether he can hit the heights he did previously.
