20 best Bryce Harper jokes after Mike Trout’s reported monster deal

Move over, Bryce Harper. Mike Trout is getting a 12-year, $430 million record-breaking deal to stay with the Los Angeles Angels, ESPN’s Jeff Passan first reported and USA TODAY Sports confirmed Thursday.

Trout was set to become a free agent in 2020, creating a sweepstakes situation similar to this offseason with Harper. But apparently the Angels weren’t interested in waiting. He’s still owed $68 million over the next two years, and the Angels gave him a 10-year, $362 million extension.

The monster contract — which our Ted Berg argues is actually still a steal for the Angels, considering Trout is the best player in the league — is more than 30 percent larger than Harper’s newly inked blockbuster deal with the Philadelphia Phillies, which is worth $330 million over 13 years. Harper officially signed with his new team on March 2, and almost immediately began lobbying for Trout to join him in a couple years.

After Harper’s massive deal, baseball fans began speculating about how much teams would have to fork over for Trout, with options ranging from billions of dollars to a spaceship to making him a part owner. That was all assuming he’d be looking for a new contract two seasons from now, but Trout still has a decade worth of outrageous paychecks coming to him.

So after Trout’s reported extension that blows Harper’s deal away, the internet, of course, had jokes. But there are a lot of them, so we rounded up our favorite GIF jokes instead.
