'20/21 title is ours!' - Arsenal fans go nuts as Thomas Partey transfer talks are confirmed

Arsenal supporters have taken to social media and reacted to the news that the club are in talks to sign Atletico Madrid midfielder Thomas Partey.

Having emerged as one of the most highly-rated central midfielders in Europe after several excellent seasons in La Liga, talk of a summer move to the Emirates Stadium has heightened in recent weeks.

Firstly, the Telegraph stated last month that a source at Wanda Metropolitano has said there is "interest from an English club" in the Ghanaian who reportedly has a release clause in the region of £45m.

Then early this week, The Guardian reported that Arsenal had opened talks with the 26-year-old's entourage and have shown the greatest desire to sign the player among all interested clubs.

And confirming such rumours is none other than the midfielder's father, Jacob.

"I called my son after hearing the rumours and he told me that the rumours are true, Mr Partey said, as per Ghana Web. "He told me they are holding talks between him and Arsenal.

"It all depends on the offer Atletico are demanding.

"If he goes to Arsenal fine, they have a lot of supporters in Ghana. I will be happy if he decides to move to Arsenal.

"What they are discussing now is how Atletico will release him."

As expected, this development has prompted a massive response from Arsenal fans.

Partey has previously put the Gunners on red alert with his admission to play in the Premier League one day.

"At the moment, I am happy at my club," Partey told ESPN last summer. "But in football, you never know when and where you'll be in the next day or year.

"The Premier League is a good league, it's very competitive and has some of the best players in the world"
