BENGALURU: Two youths were arrested on charges of stealing four two-wheelers and using them to rob seven mobiles, all worth over Rs 7 lakh.
The accused are Anji S, 21, of Bovipalya near Sarjapur and Shashikumar, 22, of Mugaluru near Anekal.
Police said their night-patrol staff noticed the suspects riding a scooter on Graphite India Road on March 18. The duo tried to flee on seeing the police personnel, but they were caught. During interrogation, police learned the two had stolen two-wheelers in Mahadevapura and other places in the city and also in Tamil Nadu. They used the same vehicles to rob people of their phones.
The youths had robbed software engineer Noor Mohammed, 27, of Pai Layout on December 15, on Old Madras Road in Pai Layout when he was walking towards his paying guest accommodation after finishing work at midnight. They snatched his bag which had a laptop, mobile phone, debit card, credit card and other ID proof.
