Two people were wounded Monday in shootings across Chicago, including a man who was shot in the Heart of Chicago neighborhood on the Lower West Side.
The man in his 40s was shot in his knee about 2 p.m. in the 2200 block of South Bell Avenue, Chicago police said. He was taken to Stroger Hospital where his condition was stabilized.
The man refused to tell investigators details about the shooting or any information regarding his identity, according to police sources.
Earlier in the day, a man was shot in the leg in East Garfield Park on the West Side.
The 29-year-old was standing on the sidewalk at 10:24 a.m. when someone wearing all-black clothing shot at him from a vacant lot in the 3300 block of West Maypole Avenue, police said. He was taken to Stroger Hospital in good condition.
No one is in custody as Area North detectives investigate.
Monday’s shootings come after a weekend in which six people were killed and 23 were wounded in citywide shootings.
