2 wounded in shooting near Marquette Park barbershop

Two men were seriously wounded in a shooting about 11:15 p.m. in the 6800 block of South Western Avenue, June 8, 2019, in Marquette Park.

Two men were wounded in a shooting Saturday outside of a barbershop in Marquette Park.

Officers responded to a ShotSpotter alert about 11:15 p.m. in the 6800 block of South Western Avenue and found two men with gunshot wounds, Chicago police said.

A 49-year-old was hit in the face, shoulder, chest and back and was lying on the sidewalk, police said. A 32-year-old was found inside the barbershop with a gunshot wound to the back.

Both men were taken to Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn in serious condition, police said.

They were unable to give investigators details of the shooting because of their injuries, police said.

Officers cordoned off an area outside of the barbershop and walked in and out of the place as they combed the area for evidence. There were no signs of bullet holes on its front windows, but two other businesses didn’t escape the gunfire.

A bullet sliced through the window of a cleaners across the street. A couple doors down, another round pierced the window of a an auto sales’ showroom and lodged itself in a silver-colored car.

No arrests have been made as Area Central detectives investigate.
