The incidents happened a few hours apart on May 25 in the northern suburb.
A man and a woman were wounded in one of two shootings in north suburban Evanston.
On May 25, officers responded to reports of shots fired about 4:44 p.m. in an alley in the 1800 block of Darrow Avenue, Evanston police said.
They didn’t find any people hurt at the scene but witnesses said someone in a silver SUV had fired at a blue Audi sedan, police said. Officers found 10 shell casings in the alley.
Wilmette officers located the bullet-riddled Audi a short time later at 7th street and Elmwood Avenue in Wilmette, police said. The driver, a 33-year-old man, suffered a minor wound to his shoulder and was treated at the scene.
A 24-year-old woman in the passenger seat was shot in the chest and was taken to Evanston Hospital, police said. Her condition was stabilized and she’s expected to recover from her injuries.
A second gun violence incident occurred a few hours later.
About 9:03 p.m., officers responded to calls of a fight on a street in the 2000 block of Jackson Avenue, police said. Shots were fired before they arrived and a compact car fled the area.
Officers found three shall casings on the street but no one was injured, police said.
There are no suspects in custody for either shooting as Evanston police are investigating.
