April 04--Police are investigating a shooting that wounded two north suburban men on Howard Street early Saturday morning in Evanston.
Shortly before 4 a.m., officers responded to a call of shots fired in the area of Howard Street and Dodge Avenue, where they found several shell casings in the intersection but no victim, according to a release from the Evanston Police Department.
Shortly after the discovery, police were notified that two gunshot victims had arrived at the emergency room of Presence St. Francis Hospital. The victims, a 22-year-old Round Lake Beach man and a 23-year-old Waukegan man, said they had just left a club in Chicago, police said.
According to preliminary information from police, the two had left the club and were westbound on Howard Street near Dodge when a vehicle pulled alongside and someone fired several times into the victims' vehicle. That vehicle then fled southbound on California Avenue toward Chicago, police said.
The Round Lake Beach man suffered wounds to the arm and back and was reported in good condition. The other victim was struck in the head and groin, and was in serious but stable condition, police said.
Anyone with information about the shooting should contact the Evanston police detective bureau at (847) 866-5040.
