March 25--Authorities charged two women after a shooting early Wednesday in the Brighton Park neighborhood on the Southwest Side that ended in a crash on the Stevenson Expressway.
Graciela Herrera, 24, of the 4600 block of South Francisco Avenue, was charged with two felony counts of aggravated assault. Asusena Robles, 21, of the 2800 block of West 40th Street, was charged with two misdemeanor counts of aggravated assault, according to a news release from the Chicago Police Department.
Herrera was behind the wheel of a vehicle, from which an unknown male attacker came out and fired shots at a 23-year-old man about 4:35 a.m. Wednesday in the 4000 block of South Kedzie Avenue, according to release.
The 23-year-old and a 21-year-old woman got into a vehicle and fled. The shooter then got back into the vehicle, and Herrera, the attacker and Robles, who was also in the car, started chasing the victims, according to the release.
Herrera crashed her vehicle while on Interstate 55 near Pulaski Road. The male attacker fled, but Robles was taken into custody at the scene of the crash, police said.
Herrera suffered a non-life-threatening head injury and was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital for treatment. She was arrested at the hospital in connection with the incident, police said.
Herrera is scheduled to appear in Cook County bond court Friday.
