2 Texans to look out for in fantasy football

Everybody loves a fantasy football value pick — someone, who everyone overlooked but you can see will become a stud. Two such players to look out for in 2019 both happen to play for the Houston Texans, and both play tight end; The Jordan’s.

Second-year tight end Jordan Thomas had a promising rookie year. Thomas played in 16 games in 2018, recording 20 receptions for 215 yards and four touchdowns.

Meanwhile, fellow 2018 rookie tight end Jordan Akins recorded 17 receptions for 225 yards.

According to Pro Football Focus, Thomas averaged 4.1 PPR Points Per Game in fantasy football last season, sixth among rookie tight ends in 2018. Akins on the other hand, averaged just 2.5 per game which placed him ninth among rookie tight ends. The reason being his lack of touchdowns on the year, with zero.

An important factor to keep in mind is that with Griffin out the door both can expect to see more of the ball. They have brought in another rookie tight end in Kahale Warring who himself looks a great talent, but with his lack of football experience, they will want to ease him in his rookie year. Meanwhile, they did bring in veteran tight end Darren Fells, but his focus will be on blocking. Essentially he was brought in as an extra offensive lineman to protect quarterback Deshaun Watson.

Therefore, Thomas and Akins will surely look to become the key receiving tight ends this year, Thomas perhaps as a redzone threat and Akins as a deeper target for Watson. The Jordans could represent good value in your fantasy leagues.
