Two teenagers were wounded in the two reported shootings Thursday in Chicago.

A 19-year-old man was shot in the elbow in Lawndale on the West Side.

He was on the sidewalk about 5 p.m. in the 1300 block of South Sawyer Avenue when a vehicle approached him and someone inside opened fire, Chicago police said. He took himself to Mount Sinai Hospital, where his condition was stabilized.

Hours earlier, a 17-year-old boy was shot in South Shore.

The teen was in a lot about 3:30 p.m. in the 7500 block of South Colfax Avenue when someone fired shots in his direction, police said. He ran away and realized he had been struck. He showed up at Jackson Park Hospital shortly before 6 p.m. and his condition was stabilized.

Officers responded to reports about the gunfire on Colfax about 3:33 p.m. and saw two males shooting, police said. One of the suspected shooters was taken into custody after a brief foot chase, while the other ran off. A weapon was recovered and charges are pending.

Five people were hurt in gun violence incidents across the city on Wednesday.
