2 shot Monday in Chicago

Two people were wounded July 8, 2019 in shootings across Chicago.

Two people were wounded Monday in what was the only reported shooting in Chicago that day.

An 18-year-old man and 15-year-old boy were standing on a sidewalk about 5:40 p.m. in the 700 block of North Lawndale Avenue when someone rode up on a bicycle and fired shots, Chicago police said.

The 18-year-old was struck in the head and taken in critical condition to Stroger Hospital, police said.

The 15-year-old was shot in the hand, police said. His condition was stabilized at the same hospital.

The shooter fled south on Lawndale, police said. Area North detectives are investigating.

Monday’s shooting came after a violent Fourth of July weekend in which five people were killed and 63 were wounded.
