2 seriously injured in Round Lake Beach crash

Two people were injured in a crash July 15, 2019 in Round Lake Beach.

Two men were seriously injured in a vehicle crash Sunday in north suburban Round Lake Beach.

About 11:30 p.m., officers responded to calls of a two-vehicle crash near the 10th block of East Rollins Road and found a black GMC pick-up truck on fire and a damaged silver Toyota sedan, according to Round Lake Beach police.

A subsequent investigation found that the driver of the GMC, a 27-year-old man, was driving east on Rollins Road when he crossed into the westbound lane and crashed into the Toyota, which was driven by a 59-year-old man, police said.

Both drivers were trapped in their vehicles and had to be freed, police said. After being rescued, both drivers were rushed Condell Hospital in Libertyville with serious but non-fatal injuries.

Round Lake police continue to investigate the crash but no charges have been filed at this time.
