2 Seahawks running backs among top 5 in the NFC West

It’s no secret that the Seattle Seahawks had one of the best running games in the entire NFL last season.

Second-year back Chris Carson scampered to over 1,000 yards, and rookie Rashaad Penny and veteran Mike Davis chipped in behind an improved offensive line to help Seattle go 10-6 with a refreshing pound it down their throat style offense.

Pro Football Focus has been publishing their top five players at each position per conference, and two Seahawks running backs – Carson and Davis – cracked the top five in the NFC West.

Gurley is one of the most well-known backs in the entire league, but it was Carson who posted the highest grade in the conference by a pretty wide margin.

Additionally, Davis posted a tidy 75.6 grade, putting him fourth behind Carson, Gurley and Matt Breida of the 49ers. David Johnson of the Cardinals rounded out the top-five with a 64.0 grade.

Seattle’s running game will be a huge strength once again in 2019, with Penny expected to take a big step forward in his second season. The Seahawks will have to make a decision about Davis, who is a free agent, but it is safe to say this team will run the ball well again next year.
