2 red phone boxes go up for sale in Nottingham city centre - but they could set you back £30k

Two historic red phone boxes have gone up for sale in Nottingham.

The listed 'K6' red phone box or 'Jubilee' kiosks, commemorating the Silver Jubilee of the coronation of King George V, have appeared on Rightmove for a guide price of £30,000.

The advert states that electricity is connected and the kiosk is to be re-painted.

The boxes were originally designed by Sir Giles Gilbert Scott, who also designed Liverpool’s Anglican Cathedral, Battersea Power Station and Bankside Power Station, now Tate Modern.

Historic England has listed to preserve the iconic red kiosks, and many have transformed them to coffee shops, libraries, museums, bakeries, and defibrillators.

The kiosk is located outside number 24, formerly Jamie's Italian, now in new hands, a busy pedestrianised part of the city.

The kiosks will be available on an online auction on Wednesday, May 26 2021.
