2 plays in Steelers vs Ravens perfectly illustrate the absurdity of NFL officiating

Let me preface this by saying the officiating in the game between the Pittsburgh Steelers and Baltimore Ravens has been questionable on both sides. We will dig more into this later this week but we must highlight one call in particular that really turned the tide for the Ravens late in the game.

If you look at the replay above, you see Steelers linebacker Ola Adeniyi come in and tackle Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson on a passing attempt. The throw went incomplete. But the officials felt like the play by Adeniyi was roughing the passer.

We aren’t sure how you can make that call at any point in the game. But the call is made even more ridiculous when you consider this play was flagged for the same violation.

This argument isn’t about the fact the first play went against the Steelers, even though it did. It’s about the same group of officials seeing both of these plays and calling them the way they did.
