2 people in hospital with suspected chemical injuries as police cordon off Nottingham estate

Police have set up a cordon in a Nottingham housing estate after two people arrived at hospital with "suspected chemical injuries".

Fire engines with a number of crews, incident response units and police officers have been at the scene in Nidderdale, Wollaton on Friday morning (May 28).

They have been working to assess a property in the area and have been telling people to avoid the scene and stay indoors for their safety.

Superintendent Sukesh Verma, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “We are currently assisting emergency service colleagues at an address in Nidderdale after two people presented to hospital with suspected chemical injuries.

“Work is ongoing to assess the property and ensure there are no ongoing issues.

“At this time we don’t believe there’s a risk to the wider public.”

No arrests have been made at this stage.
